Lev Kuznetsov, Minister of North Caucasus Affairs, together with Yuri Kokov, Head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, and Oleg Gorchev, Director General of North Caucasus Resorts JSC, examined the aerial passenger gondola ropeway from “Station Mir” to “Station Gara-Bashi” at the height of 3,847 m., with the throughput of 1,500 persons per hour, which is now being commissioned.
Another important innovation for the convenience of tourists will be the start-up of a single ski pass for all cableways of Elbrus ATRC, in conjunction with Elbrus PJSC. This will considerably reduce the time of climbing to tracks and facilitate the movement of tourists, because this system assumes a one-time payment for all climbings.
By the end of 2015, the Company also plans to put into operation the ski slopes from station “Gara-Bashi” to station “Mir” and from station “Priut-11” to station “Gara-Bashi” with total area of 47 thous. sq. m., as well as to complete the construction of the necessary infrastructure, high voltage power lines and two complex transformer substations of 10/04 kV.
After inspecting the resort’s infrastructure, Lev Kuznetsov Minister of North Caucasus Affairs, held a meeting with members of the Government of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, representatives of JSC NCR and Elbrus Resort PJSC. During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects of development of the resort in 2016 and the possibilities for attracting tourists.
“Elbrus region is the most ambitious project in the framework of the resorts of the North Caucasus. It has every reason to become a resort of international level. Last season, the Republic recorded a doubling of tourist flow, but this potential has not been exhausted. The development of the resort will give new impetus to small and medium business, creat additional jobs, provide tax revenue growth,” said Lev Kuznetsov.
As was emphasized during the meeting, we cannot consider acceptable the situation when the state does not receive adequate results, while investing heavily in modern expensive infrastructure - roads and security. “This is not someone’s inherited territory, this is the property of all Kabardino-Balkaria, of all Russia,” said the head of the Republic Yury Kokov.
Oleg Gorchev, Director General JSC NCR, said that the Company hopes to increase, during the ski season, the tourist flow in 1.5 times at all sites under development, including the Elbrus region. “In preparation for the season, we take all measures to launch the new infrastructure on time and ensure its quality during the season,” he said.
