Over 100 thousand tourists spent their New Year holidays at the three resorts of the North Caucasus.
‘Only in January 1 to 8, about 42.5 thousand guests visited Arkhyz in Karachay-Cherkess, 48.5 thousand tourists visited Elbrus in Kabardino-Balkar, and Veduchi, a young resort in the Chechen Republic, hosted another thousand and a half guests approximately. In aggregate, taking into account last days of the previous year, the tourist flow to the resorts exceeded 100 thousand people,’ Khasan Timizhev, the Director General of Joint-Stock Company Northern Caucasus Resorts, told.
At average, the increment dynamics of the number of tourists was about 20% compared with the same period last year. ‘For instance, Arkhyz made new records in terms of number of ski passes sold: thus, almost 2.4 thousand tourists visited ropeways on New Year's Eve, that is 40% higher than on December 31, 2017. In addition, a new record was made in ropeway traffic per day, 5508 persons,’ he noted.
The ski season in the Northern Caucasus resorts is going on. Ropeways of Elbrus resort operate. At Veduchi ATRC, skiing on the training and children’s slopes was opened, snowmaking is under way on the major piste of blue difficulty category. Arkhyz resort, where new pistes were opened on holidays in test mode, is preparing for launch of infrastructure facilities on the North-oriented slope in full.
