Five new pistes to be opened in Arkhyz resort in winter

In the all-season resort Arkhyz in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, construction of facilities on the North-oriented slope in Romantik tourist village is going on. More than 350 persons of technical personnel and over 130 vehicles and special vehicles are involved in construction and installation works.

Khasan Timizhev, the Director General of Joint-Stock Company Northern Caucasus Resorts, after having inspected the construction progress, drew attention of representatives of contractors to the need for timely commissioning of new facilities of mountain ski infrastructure. ‘Our commitment as a management company both towards tourists and towards the Ministry of the Northern Caucasus Affairs of the Russian Federation supervising the work of NCR JSC, is to commission these facilities in time and in full scope,’ he stressed. ‘Having connected the South- and North-oriented slopes of Romantik tourist village with a common mountain ski infrastructure, we will substantially increase attractiveness of the resort, to offer to Arkhyz guests in aggregate over 25 kilometers of pistes and a longer ski season,’ Khasan Timizhev noted.

In December this year, by the ski season 2018/2019, three gondola sections of the ropeway Severnoe Siyanie with 2500 people per hour throughput, shall be opened at Arkhyz ATRC. The ropeway equipped with 10-seat cabins shall lift tourists to 2,505 m elevation, i.e. almost 300 meters higher that the Mlechny Put lift currently operating. Total length of the ropeway will be approximately 4 km.

To date, installation of technological equipment of ropeway section 1 is fully completed, its stations shall connect the left and right banks of Arkhyz river and two slopes of the gorge. In the second and third sections, the technological equipment of gondola garage shall be adjusted, linear supports shall be mounted at the third section of Severnoe Siyanie ropeway.

In addition, by the start of the new season, about 11 km of new pistes of green, blue, red and black difficulty category, equipped with artificial snowmaking system, snow guns and snow making machines, shall be launched. The longest piste will be about 4.5 km long. The skiing area for beginners shall be located on the picturesque alpine plateau with 360 degree panoramic views.
