Following the results of the all-Russian online vote, All-Season Tourism and Recreational Complex Elbrus won the grand prix as The Best Ski Resort in Russia, of the award Sports Industry Leaders. The awarding ceremony took place within the 12th International Congress of Winter Sports, Tourism and Active Recreation held in Moscow on these days.
‘For the second consecutive year, the resorts within the Northern Caucasus tourism cluster become finalists of the award Sports Industry Leaders. In 2016, the nomination The Best Young Ski Resort was won by Arkhyz ATRC, Karachay-Cherkessia, developed by Joint-Stock Company Northern Caucasus Resorts, and now the legendary Elbrus ATRC, with its more than half a century of sports history, enjoys the merited recognition,’ Oleg Gorchev, Director General of JSC NCR, commented on the results of the award. ‘I am sure that the recognition of Elbrus as the best winter holiday destination was due in no small part to the unique high-rise parameters of ropeway Mir station – Gara-Bashi station, built by us, which was even included in the “Guinness Records of Russia” book,’ the head of the management company emphasized.
‘This award is the result of effective work of Joint-Stock Company Northern Caucasus Resorts and JSC Elbrus Resort, the Ministry of the North Caucasus Affairs of the Russian Federation, authorities in Kabardino-Balkaria and, of course, locals of the Elbrus regions, providing guests of the region with tourism services and creating unique spirit of highland hospitality and cordiality,’ Oleg Gorchev said.
He clarified that the JSC NCR will continue to further modernize and develop ski infrastructure in Elbrus ATRC, in order to achieve model resort indicators by 2025. According to Oleg Gorchev, in the coming years, in accordance with the land use plan and the development plan, the ski area shall be expanded and the territory of Elbrus ATRC shall be developed in the area of the Pik Terskol Observatory.
