Pistes at Arkhyz resort in Karachay-Cherkess were certified for sports competitions and included in the All-Russian Register of Sports Facilities. Such decision was made by the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation when reviewing documents on sports facilities Piste MV3 and Piste MV4, black and blue respectively, situated in Lunnaya Polyana tourist village.
Certification of the pistes confirmed their full compliance with the safety requirements to holding mass physical training activities and sports events. Currently, the homologation certificate for the red difficulty level piste in Romantik, which was certified in 2013, is being renewed.
‘Geographical, climatic and infrastructural peculiarities of the resort have been attracting more and more athletes in recent times. In a year, the resort site became the favorite place for training camps and various competitions,’ Khasan Timizhev, the Director General of Joint-Stock Company Northern Caucasus Resorts, told. ‘Thus, last summer, at the resort, workout sessions of the combined team of Saint-Petersburg and members of the combined team of Russia in biathlon, and, in September, the first NCFD Mountain Bike Championship were held,’ he added.
‘In the North Caucasus, the strongest athletes in Greco-Roman wrestling, free-style wrestling and judo are trained, however we have all capabilities and even advantages to develop winter sports. We are sure that development of Arkhyz as a sports site will provide interest of population of the region for going in for winter sports,’ the Director General noted.
Inclusion of pistes in the All-Russian Register of Sports Facilities makes it possible to hold mountain ski and snowboarding competitions of all-Russian and international level at the resort.
